About
This website is an initiative of LINC Tasmania, an agency of the Department of Education, Tasmania.
LINC Tasmania is a statewide network that gives Tasmanians access to library services, research and information, adult literacy support, community learning, online access, and archive and heritage services. LINC brings together the services of the State Library of Tasmania, the Tasmanian Archive and Heritage Office (TAHO), Adult Education and online access centres.
LINC Tasmania provides a range of great courses and activities for people wishing to participate in learning, whether for employment, life skills or for personal enjoyment. This includes computing courses, courses to gain or update employment skills, getting ready for work programs and support to assist with study and return to learning. You can enrol in most fee paying courses through the LearnXpress website. Become a tutor
We are often seeking tutors for the Leisure and Lifestyle program. Sometimes we are looking for tutors to teach specific classes or skills that are in demand and sometimes we are approached with ideas for new classes by prospective tutors. We also employ life models. If you think you are able to offer us a class we would be interested in, please contact us.
If you submit a proposal to us, we will consider the following factors in deciding whether or not to proceed with your course idea:
- Suitability
- Cost to the student
- Uniqueness
- Getting enough enrolments
- How it fits with our overall program
- Practicality (i.e. do we have the necessary facilities/resources?)
How to Apply
The first step to becoming a tutor is to be on our Tutor Register by completing an application form, downloadable as PDF or MS Word (see under Attachments at the bottom of the page). If we have a vacancy in your area we may contact you to see if you are available.Forms should be returned to the LINC in your region. If you are available in more than one region, it is advisable to send a separate copy to each region.
What are the steps to offering a LearnXpress course?
- Fill in a tutor application form and/or course proposal
- Application/proposal considered by LINC Tasmania
- If your course is accepted, you will be contacted by the Program Co-ordinator for further discussion and an interview
